Georgian PM: We must repeat success that we enjoyed during the first stage, and in order to achieve this, three components – citizens, establishments, the state – must work together
According to the Prime Minister’s assessment, despite about eight months having passed since the beginning of the pandemic, the modern world has not been able to offer the population anything new in the fight against the virus: once again, face masks, distancing, avoiding unnecessary populous social gatherings, and so on.
As the Prime Minister noted, citizens must do their best to follow the rules during the stage of adaptation and management.
“Let no one think that the resources of the healthcare system are inexhaustible. This is not so. The resources of the healthcare system can be exhausted and that is the biggest risk. In order to repeat the success that we enjoyed during the first wave and the first stage (and we must definitely repeat it), three components – citizens, establishments, and the state – must work together.
Everyone must shoulder corresponding responsibilities and everyone must approach this responsibly. What we are seeing now is that the number of infected people in the world will increase further and do so, it seems, at an even faster rate; this does not mean, however, that we must impose some restrictions without thinking. We are not planning to do this, there is no necessity to do so, there is no such need – we are in control of the process and we must do everything to maintain the results of effective management that we have had thus fur, and we must think about even greater effectiveness,” the Prime Minister stated.
Georgia has reported 578 new cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) today, bringing the total number of infected people to 8 696.
375 patients recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours, increasing the total number of cured persons to 4 619.
Two more patients died of coronavirus in Georgia. The virus-related death toll stands at 52.
