Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili met the European Council President, Charles Michel within the framework of the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai, UAE.
The PM and the European Council President reviewed Georgia’s reforms implementation in the EU integration process accentuating the European Commission’s positive recommendation to grant candidate status to Georgia.
Irakli Garibashvili informed Charles Michel about the already-fulfilled priorities stressing the government had a detailed action plan with the vision and terms on how to fulfil the rest of the recommendations in coordination with the EU representatives.
The PM said Georgia expected a positive political decision from the European Council in mid-December and underscored the significance of the European Council President’s continued support for Georgia’s EU integration process.
Delegates from approximately 200 countries, leaders of business and finance, and representatives of civil society gathered in Dubai from November 30 to December 12 for the COP28 climate conference with the aim of fast-tracking the transition to a clean-energy future.
