Georgian PM meets CoE Secretary General

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset during the European Political Community Summit in Budapest.

According to the government’s press office, the conversation focused on “the productive cooperation between Georgia and the Council of Europe, in that it contributes tremendously to the implementation of reforms on the country’s path to European integration.”

“The parties also discussed challenges facing European security, and the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. Attention was paid to the role of the Council of Europe in peaceful conflict resolution and confidence building, including through humanitarian projects and dialogue mechanisms. The special importance of the Council of Europe Secretary General’s consolidated reports and the annual decisions of the Committee of Ministers was also emphasized,” reads the statement.
