Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili received President of the Georgian Basketball Federation Viktor Sanikidze, Deputy Secretary General Lasha Gamkrelidze, the team’s head coach and members Duda Sanadze and Giorgi Shermadini, who brought James Naismith Trophy, the World Championship’s main award, to the Government Administration.

James Naismith Trophy, the World Cup’s main award, is visiting Georgia as part of the Trophy Tour organized jointly by the Basketball Federation and FIBA prior to the kick-off of the 2023 World Cup.
As part of the Trophy Tour, a FIBA project, the World Cup’s main award is visiting the championship’s participant countries, with various meetings held and activities carried out.
The 2023 Basketball World Cup will be held in Japan, the Philippines, and Indonesia from August 25 through September 10.
