“In 2012, the country’s budget was 8.5 billion GEL. Despite the challenging situation, we were able to expand the budget to over 28 billion GEL by 2024 due to economic development,” said the chairman of the Georgian Dream election headquarters, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, during the presentation of the election program.
The Prime Minister stated the country’s budget would surpass 50 billion GEL by 2028.
According to him, the country’s unemployment rate was 26.7% in 2012, but it has since been cut in half, to 13.7% now.
“We had the worst unemployment situation in 2012 with 26.7%. We succeeded in cutting it in half after 2012. Unemployment rate is at 13.7%, according to today’s report. We have a very ambitious and yet reasonable goal of lowering unemployment to 4%.
The average European unemployment rate is 6%. Our ambitious goal is to keep it below 6%, which is very possible given our program and intentions.
We had comparable success in terms of employment as well. In 2021, 1,217,000 individuals were employed, with a 170,000 rise in the past 2.5 years alone. If this pace is maintained, which is almost inevitable, we can safely pledge that at least 200,000 employment will be added to our nation by 2028,” stated the Prime Minister.
