Georgian pharmaceutical regulator takes Diprospan off market

Diprospan, manufactured by Schering-Plough Labo N.V., was taken off the market by the Regulation Agency for Medical and Pharmaceutical Activities.

According to the agency, the decision was made in response to a restriction imposed by the Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products, which reported a problem with the quality of four batches of this pharmaceutical product throughout the production process.

The Georgian regulator has instructed importers and distributors of pharmaceutical products to stop selling the drug and remove it from the market until the reason for the suspension is resolved.

Diprospan is a combination of steroid injections that may be used to treat a wide range of inflammatory conditions that are typically responsive to corticosteroids.
