The Georgian Parliament Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili, met with Nurdinjon Ismailov, the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber (Lower Chamber) of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, to discuss the close political and economic ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, Shalva Papuashvili expressed his gratitude for Uzbekistan’s strong support for Georgia’s territorial integrity. The parties discussed bilateral relations, including cooperation between legislative bodies, trade, and energy sectors. They also agreed to strengthen parliamentary ties, including at the committee and friendship group levels, and to collaborate on international parliamentary platforms based on the memorandum of cooperation.
Both parties acknowledged that this year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Georgia and Uzbekistan and expressed their readiness to deepen the existing ones.
This meeting was a part of the official visit of Shalva Papuashvili and the parliamentary delegation to the Central Asian region.
