Georgian Orthodox Church marks Ascension Day

The Georgian Orthodox Church marks Ascension Day today. A festive prayer will be conducted at all acting churches across the country on this occasion.

Together with the priests, Metropolitan Shio, Patriarch’s locum tenens will conduct the church service at the Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in Tbilisi.

The Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. Ascension Day is always Thursday (the fortieth day from Easter).
