Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili met with the President of the Swiss National Council, Martin Candinas, as part of his official visit to Switzerland.
According to the MFA, the Minister noted that his visit to Switzerland once again emphasizes the excellent relations between the two countries, both bilaterally and multilaterally.
Ilia Darchiashvili thanked the President of the National Council for supporting the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia.
Discussions at the meeting focused on the cooperation between the legislatures of the two countries, and in this regard, on the visit of the President of the National Council of the Federal Parliament of the Swiss Confederation, Irene Kelin, to Georgia, in October 2022 – which is another proof of Switzerland’s support for Georgia.
The sides positively evaluated the work of the groups of friends in the parliaments of Georgia and Switzerland.
The duo also talked about the difficult security environment created in the region, Russia’s war in Ukraine, and the importance of the international community’s support in this regard.
Talking points also included a broad spectrum of cooperation between Georgia and Switzerland and future perspectives, the press statement reads.
