The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, met with Gert Jan Koopman, Director General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission, to discuss Georgia’s EU integration process and the current agenda.
According to the Ministry’s press office,” the parties discussed the steps Georgian authorities had taken to carry out reforms that would be necessary for Georgia to join the European Union, including implementing the main steps defined in by the European Commission on November 8, 2023.”
“The parties emphasised the significance of Georgia’s perspective of joining the European Union and expressed commitment to continue assisting Georgia in the process of implementing reforms to make further progress towards European integration. The parties agreed that they would maintain active contact between the Georgian authorities and the European Commission in accordance with the effectively established practice of dialogue, to execute Georgia’s European agenda,” the Ministry noted.
