During the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili represented his country at the Summit of the Future 2024, initiated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Darchiashvili attended the summit’s opening ceremony and participated in an interactive dialogue focused on enhancing global governance and sustainable development.

He discussed the country’s economic and monetary policies, which have led to sustainable growth in recent years. The minister also outlined the government’s commitment to advancing economic development, including global transport projects and infrastructure improvements. He expressed optimism for continued cooperation with international financial institutions.
The Summit of the Future, organized under the auspices of the UN Secretary-General, follows Guterres’s 2021 report, Our Common Agenda, which called for member states to convene for a summit to tackle global issues and strengthen cooperation effectively.
The event includes participation from heads of state and foreign ministers and will span several days. The Prime Minister of Georgia is also scheduled to address the plenary session.
