Georgian Economy Minister highlights 30% rise in freight turnover across Middle Corridor in 2022
“The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) should remain competitive in the long run. Making international players’ transportation transits more convenient and appealing requires high-level cooperation,” Georgian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili stated at the Middle Corridor International Association conference in Tbilisi.
Given the current geopolitical context, the Middle Corridor increases prominence, Levan Davitashvili believes. “In 2022, freight turnover across the Middle Corridor climbed by 30%, while cargo turnover from Kazakhstan to Georgia increased by six times,” he stated.
Georgia is hosting the Middle Corridor International Association meeting for the second time. Railway officials from Georgia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Turkey attend the meeting.
The Trans-Caspian International Transport Route spans from Southeast Asia and China to Europe, passing through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, and Georgia.
