Georgian and Armenian parliamentary foreign committees held meeting in Yerevan
Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, and members of the committee are on an official visit to Yerevan, Armenia.
During the visit, the annual joint meeting of the foreign relations committees of the Georgian and Armenian parliaments was held. The meeting included discussions between Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the Armenian National Assembly Sargis Khandanyan, and committee members.
The discussions focused on the strategic partnership between Georgia and Armenia, emphasizing the importance of developing new formats for parliamentary cooperation. The parties also addressed regional security issues, the challenges in the region, and the situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. The Georgian side briefed their Armenian colleagues on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia and the current pre-election environment.
Nikoloz Samkharadze expressed gratitude to Armenia for its support of the UN resolution on the status of internally displaced persons and refugees from Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia, Georgia. He also expressed Georgia’s readiness to assist Armenia in its efforts to strengthen ties with the European Union and to share its experience in implementing the Association Agreement.
In turn, the Armenian side provided updates on the ongoing developments in Armenia and the relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
