Georgia triumphs 4:1 over Czech Republic in League of Nations opener
The Georgian national team achieved a decisive 4:1 victory over the Czech Republic in their opening League of Nations match.
Coach Willy Sagnol used the same lineup that faced Portugal and Spain at the European Championship, aiming to rectify earlier mistakes from their 1:1 draw with the Czechs.
In the 33rd minute, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia converted a penalty to give Georgia a 1:0 lead.
In the 53rd minute, Otar Kiteishvili assisted Chakvetadze, who scored to make it 2:0. Luka Lochoshvili then set up Mikautadze for Georgia’s third goal in the 63rd minute.
Three minutes later, Giorgi Chakvetadze’s assist allowed Giorgi Kochorashvili to score a header, making it 4:0. The Czechs managed a consolation goal in the 80th minute.
The Georgian team will next face Albania in Tirana on September 10.
