Georgia supported at International Organization of Francophonie Summit

The 17th Summit of International Organization of the Francophonie was held on October 11-12 in Yerevan, Armenia. Leaders of 84 associated and observer states gathered for the summit. Georgia’s Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani headed the Georgian delegation. Georgia has been a participant of the organization in the status of an observer since 2004.

Based on the information of Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on October 12, the summit participants backed the resolution “On crisis situations and peace consolidation in Francophonie space.”

The member states once again expressed support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty and the need to fulfill the commitments taken by Russia as per the 2008 ceasefire agreement unconditionally.

The International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF) on Friday named Rwanda’s Louise Mushikiwabo as its new chief. She succeeds the Canadian incumbent, rival candidate Michaëlle Jean, after a suspense-free vote in Armenia.
