Georgia regaining historic role as trade, connectivity hub, Speaker says
Georgia is regaining its historic role as a trade and connectivity hub, Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said when remarking on signing the EU-South Caucasus Green Energy Partnership quadripartite deal in Bucharest, Romania.
“Georgia is regaining its historic role as a hub for trade and connectivity. An EU-South Caucasus Green Energy Partnership and its flagship projects such as Black Sea Submarine Electricity Cable will be a strategic investment in green, peaceful and European future of the entire region,” Papuashvili tweeted.
Georgia, Azerbaijan, Romania, and Hungary signed the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project in Bucharest, Romania, on Saturday.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, Prime Minister of Romania Nicolae Ciucă and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban inked the energy deal. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen attended the signing ceremony.
