Georgia needs support on European integration path, Austrian Chancellor says
Georgia needs support on its European integration path, said Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer at the joint press conference with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili.
The Austrian Chancellor believes Georgia shares European values and is a valuable partner. During his meeting with the Georgian Prime Minister, he explained why Georgia did not receive EU candidate country status like Ukraine and Moldova and what could be done to speed up EC recommendations fulfilment.
Karl Nehammer stated he would like to see Georgia “closer,” assuming that the European Perspective would be a motivation for Georgia to make consecutive steps forward.
“I, as the Federal Chancellor, gave an unequivocal guarantee to Georgia that if it meets the specific recommendations, we will provide concrete support to create a space of stability, with the guarantees against the tough backdrop. We must have a dialogue, a balanced policy to take better care of peace in Europe,” said the Chancellor of Austria.
