Georgia appreciates Hungary's support on EU path, FM Darchiashvili says
“Georgia appreciates the support and contribution of its Hungarian friends on the nation’s EU path,” Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili said after meeting with Hungarian colleague Peter Szijjarto in Budapest.
“At the meeting, we expressed our readiness to continue close dialogue and strengthen relations in all directions. Georgia’s EU accession and Hungary’s future presidency of the EU Council were the main discussion topics,” Darchiashvili went on.
The FM noted that the European Council’s decision to grant Georgia candidate status created an “unprecedented impetus” on the country’s EU path.
“Our next goal is to achieve the opening of accession negotiations. We are mobilized and ready to implement the necessary reforms,” Darchiashvili added.
