Georgi Margvelashvili: In Europe, Prime Ministers are the leaders of ruling party, accordingly, Bidzina Ivanishvili should become PM
“Georgi Kvirikashvili left the post of Prime Minister yesterday and said that the chairman of the party, Bidzina Ivanishvili, should be given the opportunity to staff a new government,” – Georgian President Georgi Margvelashvili said in his speech at the forum “Georgia’s European Way”. International Conference is underway in Batumi, Adjara region.
The President believes that these processes should be much more clear and foreseeable.
“I believe that this process should be clearer, foreseeable and more considered by public. I think public should know why the Prime Ministers, successful Prime Ministers are leaving the posts unexpectedly. When former Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili resigned, we heard that he was a successful Prime Minister. Why do successful heads of government quit the posts and what are the arguments behind all this. Based on which principles and arguments the new Prime Ministers will be elected, ” – the president said.
Giorgi Margvelashvili describes the current process as masquerade and states that it should be ended.
At the same time, Margvelashvili believed that it will be right if Bidzina Ivanishvili assumes the Prime Minister’s post.
“If we talk about the European choice, responsible policy and formation of the European state, in Europe the Prime Ministers are the leaders of ruling party. Accordingly, Bidzina Ivanishvili, as the leader of the ruling party, should become a new Prime Minister. In this case it will be more comprehensible for the society, in case if Prime Minister, who will be responsible for his decisions, steps down”, – President said.
