Gedevan Popkhadze – If authorities and medics believe that public gatherings contribute to spread of pandemics, we should talk about not only limiting of manifestations but postponement of elections
We have the constitutional right to assemble but if the authorities and medics believe that public gatherings contribute to the spread of pandemics, we should talk about not only limiting of manifestations but postponement of elections – Gedevan Popkhadze, a representative of Georgia-Solidarity Alliance Party said.
“If the large-scale meetings represent a threat, then the whole election process is a threat to health, and if this process may inflict harm to health of people then we have to consider what to put on the first place – human health or holding of elections,” Popkhadze claimed.
According to Popkhadze political decisions based on consistency and logic are acceptable.
“Six months ago, if human health was valuable, then why did it become more valuable to hold elections after six months and keep the Georgian Dream in power by some mechanism? We have to make the right decisions,” Gedevan Popkhadze said.
