GD's recent statement requires serious consideration, Gia Volski says
“The Georgian Dream’s recent statement requires serious consideration,” stated Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament. “We must analyze ongoing processes carefully, especially given President-elect Trump’s warnings about the deep state being a global threat.”
“In the remote region, and not only in the remote region, the U.S. has never had a decent and trusted partner as Georgia. Our foreign policy direction remains unchanged,” Volski added.
“There have just been statements by the collective United National Movement as well as by Salome Zourabichvili that the U.S. elections are Russia-ruled and in general, Trump is the Russian Federation’s project that the Russian Federation is the one who will lead to the results of the world’s elections.
Very recently, Ukraine’s highest authority announced that there are serious signs of corruption when it comes to aid to Ukraine amounting to several tens of billions of dollars. In light of these circumstances, when such an unfriendly act—misrepresented as a friendly gesture—has been directed against Georgia, we do not believe that this decision reflects the views of that administration, even as it is outgoing and marked by hostility, particularly when it comes to sanctioning Georgia. This is especially concerning given that many individuals in Georgia have proven themselves to be heroes in the 2008 war,” he added.
