GD's Mikanadze: Together, we soon take our rightful place in Europe, where we always belonged
In a few days, we face a crucial moment that will define the significance of our politics and our country’s focus for the next four years, declared Givi Mikanadze, the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia member, during his appearance on the GPB First Channel’s program Debates 2024.
“I want to take this opportunity to express deep gratitude to our voters for their trust, which has enabled us, through collective effort, to become the first government since regaining independence to maintain peace and stability. We are focused on development and achieving the historic goal of establishing our rightful place in the European family. We are a government that, in partnership with society, has achieved remarkable results on our journey toward European integration. I want to assure you that this commitment will continue unwaveringly. Together, we will soon secure our place where we have always truly belonged – in Europe,” Mikanadze stated.
When asked by the program host about why Georgian Dream needs a constitutional majority, which it aims to achieve, Givi Mikanadze explained that the ruling party has very realistic ambitions regarding the constitutional majority, supported by ratings and pre-election polls showing Georgian Dream winning the 2024 parliamentary elections convincingly. Regarding the constitutional majority, he stated that it is necessary to implement fundamental, crucial constitutional reforms in all four directions, enabling the country to develop more rapidly.
“We clearly see public support and legitimacy for the processes related to our constitutional majority goals. Accordingly, we are ready and have always maintained the vision to act in society’s interests and to take specific steps in agreement with the public. We have every capability, skill, and determination to fulfil the mandate of the vast majority of society. We aim to implement these fundamental changes within the 11th Convocation of the Parliament through the constitutional majority,” Mikanadze declared.
