Gia Volski, First Vice-Speaker of Parliament, has indicated that the Georgian Dream party may elect a new chairperson at its congress scheduled for Saturday, May 3.
Volski noted that discussions are ongoing regarding the precise date, but there is a consensus that the congress will likely occur on Saturday.
“Naturally, we will also elect a new member of the Political Council alongside the party chairman. We are nearing an agreement on these issues, but let us wait for an authorized spokesperson to make the official announcement from a credible platform,” Volski stated.
Regarding Irakli Garibashvili’s decision to retire from politics, Volski emphasized that Garibashvili is not only a commendable individual but also a highly skilled professional, indicating that a return to politics in the future remains a possibility.
“Irakli Garibashvili deserves our gratitude, which we have already expressed to him. Today, we want to reaffirm that he is not just a decent person, a proud Georgian, and a dedicated family man, but also an expert in his field with an impressive education. He is still young, and I believe there is a possibility we may see him return to politics,” Volski added.
Irakli Garibashvili announced his retirement from politics on April 25.
