GD Chair says by pardoning Lazare Grigoriadis, President threw Molotov Cocktail at police officer
“By pardoning Lazare Grigoriadis, President Salome Zourabichvili threw a Molotov Cocktail at a police officer,” said Irakli Garibashvili, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party.
According to Irakli Garibashvili, the President betrayed the party, people, country and the Georgian police.
“She has several months left in office, I cannot imagine how she continues her activities. This is a big shame and in my viewpoint, a crime committed against the police. By signing the pardoning act, Salome Zourabishvili acted as the collaborator of the crime, she threw a Molotov Cocktail at a police officer,” he said adding the Georgian people would respond to her.
Lazare Grigoriadis, an activist of the March 7-9 mass protests in Tbilisi, was sentenced to 9 years in prison on April 12.
The family and defence lawyer of Lazare Grigoriadis applied to President Salome Zourabichvili with a pardon request. President decided to pardon the convicted activist.
Lazare Grigoriadis was arrested on March 29, following March 7-9 mass protests in Tbilisi against the Foreign Influence Transparency bill. Lazare was charged with throwing a Molotov Cocktail at law enforcers and burning a patrol police car.
