Gas pipeline running from Azerbaijan through Georgia to Europe to be opened on June 12
The gas pipeline which runs from Azerbaijan through Georgia and Turkey to Europe will be opened on June 12.
As Deutsche Welle reported the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Berat Albayrak has made the regarding announcement.
According to the Minister, the presidents of Turkey and Azerbaijan will participate in the opening of the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP). He said that gas supply would be launched on June 30.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani State Oil Company reported that the ceremony was scheduled for June 19.
The work on the TANAP project started in 2015. Exports of 16 billion cubic meters of gas will be implemented annually from “Shah Deniz” gas field – 6 billion cubic meters to Turkey and 10 billion cubic meters to Europe. Then the volume of the gas will be increase.
TANAP will be linked to the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) which is the part of the Southern Gas Corridor project. The corridor is scheduled to be exploited by 2020.
