The former Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili wrote on social network X that the EU and the US must urgently focus on Georgia—not only to support democracy, human rights, and its European future, but because this is a critical geopolitical issue.

It is highly geopolitical: only a pro-Western Georgia can prevent a monolithic axis Russia- Caucasus-Iran, that would control the Black and Caspian Seas,” Zourabichvili wrote.
