Former judge and ex-deputy speaker to represent President in Constitutional Court

Maia Kopaleishvili, former judge at Constitutional Court, and Tamar Chugoshvili, ex-First Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, will represent President Salome Zourabichvili in the Constitutional Court over the impeachment procedure.

President Zourabichvili did not specify whether she planned to attend the court hearing.

Today, the Constitutional Court will hold an oral hearing into the impeachment of President Salome Zourabichvili.

The ruling Georgian Dream party decided to impeach President Salome Zourabichvili for violation of the Constitution by travelling to European Union countries without the government’s permission.

The Plenum of the Constitutional Court of Georgia will submit its judgment on President Salome Zourabichvili’s impeachment to the parliament within one month.
