Foreign Relations Committee Chair meets OSCE Secretary General

During the visit to Vienna, Nikoloz Samkharadze, the Foreign Relations Committee Chair of the Parliamentary Delegation to OSCE PA, held a meeting with a new OSCE Secretary General, Feridun Sinirlioğlu.

According to the Georgian Parliament, the meeting’s discourse encompassed the political processes in Georgia, including the upheld elections and post-election developments. Nikoloz Samkharadze provided Sinirlioğlu with an update on the situation in the Russia-occupied Abkhazia and Tskhinvali region.

The primary focus was on the recent illegal so-called Presidential Elections held in occupied Abkhazia last week.

The parties also reviewed the global security situation and the ongoing conflict within the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) region.

Samkharadze thanked the Secretary-General for submitting an impartial report on the parliamentary elections in Georgia.

“I extended my sincere gratitude to the OSCE for their impartial report on the Parliamentary Elections held in Georgia, despite the immense pressure that they endure from certain political actors,” he stated.

The conversation underscored the potential for cooperation, particularly with a strong and active role for Georgia within the OSCE.
