The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze held a meeting with the EU Special Representative, Toivo Klaar, and his advisors. The parties discussed the security issues of Georgia and the developments in the South Caucasus region.
According to the parliament’s press office, the emphasis was placed on the significant role of Georgia in the regulation of the Armenia-Azerbaijan relations.
“Samkharadze overviewed the grave situation in the occupied regions and the illicit actions by the Russian Federation, including the recent developments in Sukhumi and the decision of the de facto authority to not admit the EU Special Representative to Abkhazia.
At the end of the meeting, Samkharadze and the European diplomat briefly overviewed the domestic political situation of the country and the impact of the pre-electoral processes regarding the occupied regions,” reads the statement.
