Foreign Relations Committee Chair meets chairs of Bundestag Foreign Relations, European Affairs Committees
Chair of the Georgian parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, met Bundestag Foreign Relations Committee Chair Michael Roth and European Affairs Committee Chair Anton Hofreiter.
The meeting focused on the European Council’s December 15th sitting, which will discuss granting Georgia candidate status.
The sides reviewed Georgia’s fulfilment of the EC’s newly defined nine steps, regional security issues, Russia’s continuing occupation of Georgia’s territories, Georgia’s peace role in the Azerbaijan-Armenia conflict, and Georgia-Germany bilateral relations.
German politicians shared their vision of the EU enlargement with Georgian colleagues.
“Our German friends reconfirmed full support to Georgia’s candidate status and expressed readiness to provide practical support in the nine steps’ implementation,” Nikoloz Samkharadze said.
Georgian Foreign Relations Committee delegation pays an official visit to Berlin, Germany. Headed by Chair Nikoloz Samkharadze, the delegation comprises committee member Grigol Vashadze and Georgia’s Ambassador to Germany, Levan Izoria.
