Foreign citizen detained for smuggling gold

The Investigation Service of the Finance Ministry in coordination with the Revenue Service detained a foreign citizen for importing smuggled gold in the value of GEL 152 241.

The detainee attempted to import 935 grams of gold jewellery through the Sadakhlo customs checkpoint. He faces from 5 to 7 years in prison if convicted.
