“We urge the Georgian Dream party to cease the pre-election spectacle, refrain from exploiting the court system for its pre-election objectives, and avoid facilitating the reunion of the disbanded United National Movement and transferring Mikheil Saakashvili to the penitentiary at least after the New Year days,” stated Mikheil Daushvili, a member of the For Georgia party, during a briefing.
Daushvili expressed concern about Mikheil Saakashvili [jailed ex-president] conducting a remote video-link party meeting from the courtroom, addressing issues unrelated to the ongoing criminal case. He criticized the court for not intervening and stopping Saakashvili’s activities that violated procedural rules.
“The government should ensure the enforcement of Georgian legislation and not give the right to a citizen of a foreign country to interfere and participate in the internal political processes in the country,” said Daushvili.
