Teona Akubardia, a member of the For Georgia party, clarified that the team does not support the idea of a temporary government due to the associated risks and the lack of necessity. She also mentioned that there have been no specific consultations regarding a future government structure.
Akubardia suggested that the President might have a candidate in mind for the position of Prime Minister, which could be shared with opposition parties. However, no detailed discussions have taken place yet.
“The President may have a specific person in mind to propose, but so far, there have been no consultations of this kind. Without knowing the candidate, it is premature to take a position on something that has not been thoroughly discussed. We are open to the President’s proposal for consultations, but a temporary one-year government is not acceptable to us as it poses risks. The country needs to move swiftly toward European integration. Our stance on the timeframe remains unchanged—we do not support the idea of a temporary government. However, we believe the nine European recommendations are of utmost importance, and we support forming a government based on professional merit,” Akubardia stated.
When asked whether Salome Zourabichvili could be a potential candidate for the Prime Minister position, Akubardia dismissed the idea, stating that there have been no such discussions.
“The President herself mentioned that this issue has not been raised. However, in politics, one should never rule out possibilities. Our position regarding Salome Zourabichvili’s potential candidacy in the future remains unchanged. We value her fight for the country’s European future and her defense of the constitution, but further consultations would be needed for any such decisions,” Akubardia concluded.
