For Georgia Party urges diplomatic corps to boycott parliament’s first session
Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the For Georgia party, has called upon the diplomatic corps in Georgia not to attend the first session of the 11th Convocation of Parliament.
During a briefing, Gakharia urged diplomats to help uphold the democratic integrity of elections, which he described as a peaceful mechanism for political change in Georgia.
“I specifically appeal to the embassies of the United States and the European Union member states. Given the current legitimacy crisis in the country and the widespread belief among citizens that the elections have been manipulated, I respectfully request that ambassadors refrain from attending the first parliamentary session. This step would help prevent the legitimization of what many perceive as electoral manipulation,” stated Gakharia.
He also called on Georgian citizens and supporters to express their dissent on the day of the session, asserting that the elections were neither fair nor democratic and that their results were unacceptable.
