For Georgia party: Displaying Saakashvili's posters at Democracy Festival undermines opposition
Beka Liluashvili, a member of the For Georgia party, has voiced his concerns regarding the recent Democracy Festival, organized by the non-governmental organization Eastern European Centre for Multiparty Democracy in Telavi.
Liluashvili criticized the event, suggesting it was a move by the United National Movement party that indirectly supported the ruling Georgian Dream party’s pre-election campaign.
He emphasized that the For Georgia party was not involved in the planning, organization, or implementation of the festival and thus could not provide details about its activities or financing.
“It seems that this event is a strong indication of the United National Movement’s desire to label the participating opposition as ‘Natsi’. By displaying pictures or posters of Mikheil Saakashvili, they create a basis for the Georgian Dream to promote their propaganda,” Liluashvili stated.
The Democracy Festival took place in Telavi on August 3, with participation from various opposition leaders, including Tina Bokuchava of the National Movement, Giorgi Vashadze of Unity, and Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze from the Strong Georgia coalition.
