For Georgia leader: No talks on Zourabichvili as PM, but idea is interesting

Giorgi Gakharia, leader of For Georgia, reaffirmed his party’s support for President Salome Zourabichvili, stating that they are willing to back her for a second term. He also commented on Zourabichvili’s recent statement regarding her candidate for the position of prime minister in a potential coalition government.

“Our main goal is to put Georgian Dream into the opposition and ensure that the National Movement never returns to power. The President had a successful visit to the West, and the commitments she received from European partners are very positive. Everything else is just theory. From what I know, Zourabichvili has always envisioned herself as the president. The topic of her becoming prime minister has not been discussed, but it could be an interesting idea,” Gakharia said.

He emphasized that a ‘technical government’ is not a viable option and ruled out the possibility of holding snap elections. Gakharia stressed that the focus should be on the upcoming October 26 elections, stating: “The main task is to defeat both Georgian Dream and National Movement. There may be various strategies, but discussing them prematurely would only benefit the Georgian Dream. I urge everyone to focus on the campaign and avoid giving Georgian Dream any additional momentum.”
