FM says Georgia’s progress to be reflected in NATO declaration

Georgia’s progress on its path to Nato integration will be reflected in the NATO declaration, Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani announced on Monday.

“I have preliminary information that in just a few hours we will see a good text which reflects the progress the country has made in terms of NATO integration,” Georgian FM underscored.

FM Zalkaliani also expects the “Bucharest Summit decision that Georgia should become a member of NATO will be repeated.”

Minister noted that “the declaration will also mention the occupation that the Russian Federation must fulfil its international obligations.”

“The text will underscore that Georgia has all the practical tools for NATO membership. On top of that, significant attention will be paid to the context of Black Sea security. In other words, all the main priorities related to our membership will be reflected in the summit declaration,” Minister stressed.

Foreign Minister added that as a result of our active diplomatic efforts, Georgia is among the priority issues at the NATO summit.

NATO is holding a summit today at NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium.
