“Hungary is one of the strongest supporters of Georgia when it comes to granting EU candidate status to our country, Georgia’s successful progress toward the ultimate goal,” said Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili.
The Georgian FM said he had positive expectations.
“The Georgian government works with all EU member states individually, including Hungary, to have vigorous support from Hungary. Receiving candidate status after the European Perspective is everyone’s ultimate goal. We have positive signals from many EU member states, saying Georgia deserves candidate status, and I am sure we will get it,” he said.
Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban, accompanied by a delegation, is on an official visit to Georgia.
