The First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Levan Davitashvili, met with the new British Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward.
During this introductory meeting, Levan Davitashvili congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his future endeavours.
The discussion centred on bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Wardrop Strategic Dialogue, particularly in trade, investment, and tourism. Davitashvili emphasized the importance of enhancing free trade relations, noting that the UK is one of Georgia’s largest international investors. He mentioned plans to hold trade missions and business forums to facilitate closer collaboration between Georgian and UK businesspersons, allowing them to explore future cooperation prospects together.
The First Vice PM also highlighted several key regionally significant infrastructure projects, including the Anaklia Deep Sea Port, the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable, and the new International Airport in Tbilisi.
These initiatives aim to integrate Georgia into regional transportation, logistics, and energy systems, thereby contributing to the nation’s economic development.
Both parties noted that negotiations with British air carriers were in the final stages, and the launch of direct flights is anticipated to boost tourism and deepen cooperation within the civil aviation sector.
Givi Zedelashvili, the Head of the Trade Development and International Economic Relations Department, also attended the meeting.
