External Merchandise trade up by 19.3 percent in January-June

In January-June 2023 the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 10 268.6 million, 20.1 percent higher than the same period of 2022, the Georgian National Statistics Service (GeoStat) reported.

The exports equaled USD 3 052.8 million (19.3 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 7 215.8 million (20.4 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 4 163.0 million in January-June 2023 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.5 percent.

In January-June 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 80.6 percent. The top partners were Armenia (USD 440.0 million), Azerbaijan (USD 413.3 million) and Russia (USD 343.9 million).

In January-June 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 70.5 percent. The top partners were Turkey (USD 1 246.9 million), Russia (USD 927.3 million) and USA (USD 775.2 million).

In January-June 2023 the share of the top ten trading partners in the total external trade turnover of Georgia amounted to 68.6 percent. The top trading partners were Turkey (USD 1 457.7 million), Russia (USD 1 271.2 million) and USA (USD 820.9 million).
