In January-February 2022, the external merchandise trade (excluding non-declared trade) of Georgia amounted to USD 2 542.1 million, 49.3 per cent higher to the same period of 2021, National Statistics Office has said.
The exports equaled USD 760.4 million (54.5 percent higher), while the imports stood at USD 1 781.7 million (47.2 percent higher). The negative trade balance was USD 1 021.3 million in January-February 2022 and its share in external trade turnover constituted 40.2 percent, the agency noted.
The share of the top ten trading partners by exports in the total exports of Georgia amounted to 78.0 percent. The top partners were:
- China (USD 95.4 million)
- Russia (USD 92.9 million)
- Azerbaijan (USD 92.3 million)
The share of the top ten trading partners by imports in the total imports of Georgia amounted to 64.0 percent. The top partners were:
- Turkey (USD 295.5 million)
- Russia (USD 181.8 million)
- Azerbaijan (USD 156.5 million)
