Protests of Yellow Vests movement are scheduled for this weekend in Paris, France. The shooting team of Georgian First Channel is in Paris and will be reporting from the scene. A journalist of First Channel talked to Maxim Nicholas, one of the leaders of Yellow Vests movement.
In an exclusive interview with First Channel, Nicholas talked about the goals and demands of the movement, reasons for turning to radical measures and future plans.
What are your main demands?
“About 9 million people live in poverty in France. From 10 thousand to 15 thousand people commit suicide or die every year. The increase in salaries is essential for French people. They work but do not have adequate monetary compensation. We want the government to listen to people. The government does not listen and uses police against us. Now they decided to mobilize troops.”
What do you think; will our radical activities bring negative effects to the country or economy?
“During one year only because of the fact that wealthy people do not pay taxes, the deficiency of the state budget reached billions of Euros. The government does not have an answer. France is turning into a dictatorial state. We will not reconcile with that.”
What do you plan for tomorrow? Where the protest will take place?
The venue of March 23 protest is confidential. I cannot disclose the place. This remains secret due to security reasons. The authorities should not know in advance because they will arrest activists of Yellow Vests tonight. The manifestation will be held both in Paris and other French cities.”
