“I think the government in Georgia will change this year in any case. I and my political force will get ready and tie up loose ends,” former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili in an interview with the Deutsche Welle Russian-language edition.

“I think the government will change in Georgia this year in any case. They stole the election, but then the Europeans mediated. An agreement has been reached. It is far from perfect but opens up the issue of a referendum, practically a change of government this autumn. Therefore, I think that I and my political force will get ready and tie up loose ends. We will not let them destroy the country,” Saakashvili said.

At the same time, Saakashvili answered the question of whether the Georgian government could treat him like a Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

“Yes, but unlike Russia, the Georgian people are mobilized sufficiently. I have crazy support. I consider Navalny to be a hero. There is no such support in Russia yet, but it will come in time if it survives. Although one can evaluate a politician in many ways, and I remember some pretty rough stuff from him, he is a symbol of heroism in general, and there is few such people deserving support,” Saakashvili said.
