Ex-president asks MPs with medical degrees to visit him as a patient
Jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili urged members of Georgian parliament and politicians with a medical background, “those who have taken the Hippocratic Oath,” to see him and evaluate his health state.
“I would like to discuss my symptoms alone, not dispute. Examine me and make an accurate conclusion,” Saakashvili wrote on Facebook.
The ex-president said he counts on a humane approach and professional honesty from both supporters and opponents.
Public Defender-assigned group of doctors on April 27 published a new evaluation, saying that Mikheil Saakashvili’s health has “further deteriorated” since their previous visit to the Rustavi Prison in January.
The opposition United National Movement (UNM) party and family members insist on the need for overseas medical treatment of the ex-president.
