The European Georgia party joined the Unity-National Movement platform, UNM Chair Tina Bokuchava announced at the Congress.
According to Tina Bokuchava, jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili was the main motivator of the unity.
“We are becoming stronger since yet another pro-wester, EPP member party, European Georgia party and its leader Gigi Tsereteli joined the Unity-National Movement in the pre-election period. Gigi Tsereteli is one of the experienced politicians in the Georgian politics.
I am very glad that President Saakashvili spoke about the significance of unity before re-introduction of the Russian Law and with his constant calls for unity he once again demonstrates to the entire country and the world that he was, is and will be the chief unifier in our country.
The National Movement will be the flagman of this unity and victory. I vow that following the change in the government, Georgia will open negotiations with the European Union and our country will become an EU member shortly,” said Tina Bokuchava.
