EU Integration Committee Chair partakes in Competition and Consumer Protection III International Conference
The Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili participated in the Competition and Consumer Protection III International Conference.
According to the Parliament’s press office, in her welcome address, she dwelt on the significance of consumer rights and the steps undertaken in this regard.
“One of the primary achievements that the 10th Term Parliament has manifested is the embodiment of the regulated consumer sphere in the legal framework. The law adopted in 2022 by the Parliament ensures the aggregation of 6 EU directives and one regulation. In this regard, the adoption of the law on consumer rights in line with the European standards constitutes a principal step forward on the EU integration path”, – Maka Botchorishvili stated.
She underlined the efforts directed at adopting the Law in Georgia conforming to the European standards that would lay the foundation for establishing high standards of consumer rights in the country.
The Conference is convened annually based on local and international practice in view of the enhancement of the competition policy in Georgia and the improvement of the outcomes, the extended discussions on the challenges and the mechanisms of the protection of consumer rights.
The Conference, organized jointly by the Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency, the National Bank of Georgia, the Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission, the Insurance State Supervision Service, and the National Communications Commission was attended by 15 delegations from various countries, as well as international organizations.
