EU Integration Committee Chair highlights Georgia's efforts to prevent EU sanctions evasion
Maka Botchorishvili, the EU Integration Committee Chair, emphasized Georgia’s commitment to preventing EU sanctions evasion through its territory. She highlighted that the European Union has recently approved a new set of sanctions focused on blocking the sanction circumventing routes.
Botchorishvili highlighted the EU’s strong emphasis on collaboration with third countries in addressing this issue. She stated that the EU representative’s visit to Georgia served this purpose.
“Georgia has a well-defined policy in this regard. We are making every effort to ensure that EU sanctions are not bypassed via our country. Our state agencies’ actions and measures have received positive assessments on multiple occasions,” stated Botchorishvili.
The EU Sanctions Envoy, David O’Sullivan, is scheduled to visit Tbilisi on June 26 for a two-day visit. The purpose of the visit is to engage in discussions on matters of common interest, notably the effective implementation of sanctions, with Georgian authorities, as reported by the EU Delegation to Georgia on Monday.
