EU High Representative Borrell assured President Zourabichvili of readiness to strengthen Georgia’s resilience
EU High Representative and Vice-President Josep Borrell assured President Salome Zourabichvili that the EU stands ready to step up its cooperation with Georgia to strengthen its resilience, EU delegation to Georgia said about the phone call held between the EU High Representative Josep Borrell and Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili.
“High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell held a phone call with Georgian President Zourabichvili on Tuesday to discuss regional consequences of Russia’s illegal and unjustified aggression against Ukraine.
High Representative Borrell stressed the European Union’s support to Georgia in the context of the invasion of Ukraine and assured President Zourabichvili that the EU stands ready to step up its cooperation with Georgia to strengthen its resilience.
The High Representative appreciated President Zourabichvili’s position in support of Ukraine. He stressed that Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has created a humanitarian disaster of enormous scale, gravely undermined European security and is in full violation of international principles and international law. They discussed the implications of these developments on regional security, as well as the negative economic impact provoked by Russia’s aggression.
