EU Commissioner: Support to Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova more important than ever

European Commissioner for Trade, Valdis Dombrovskis, said “support to Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and countries in the South Caucasus is more important than ever. We will continue supporting our partners and strengthening ties with them.”

Valdis Dombrovskis read out a speech by High Representative/Vice-President Josep Borrell, saying that “Russia’s unprovoked and unjustified war of aggression against Ukraine has changed the security landscape in Europe and is a wake-up call for the EU. This is an attack also to Europe and the whole democratic world.”

“The EU strongly continues to support Ukraine to win this war. In the context of Russia’s illegal and unprovoked aggression against Ukraine, the Strategic Compass clearly stresses our intention to boost our cooperation in the area of security and defence with our Eastern Partners. Support to Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova and countries in the South Caucasus is more important than ever. We will continue supporting our partners and strengthening ties with them,” Valdis Dombrovskis stated.
