EU Ambassador: April 19 Agreement still provides roadmap for achieving deepened democracy
EU Ambassador to Georgia Carl Hartzell believes “April 19 Agreement still provides a roadmap for achieving both deepened democracy and advance Georgia’s path on European integration.”
“I would not claim this is the only way, but it is one and a credible such way. And I would say that if not choosing this way it takes the question that what way. I think this is the question that I hope will be discussed today,” Carl Hartzell briefed reporters before attending the presentation of the monitoring results on fulfilment of the conditions of the document “A way ahead for Georgia” by four non-governmental organizations.
Asked about ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili’s case, EU Ambassador said, “the European Union has been following very closely the situation with regard to Mr Saakashvili, including issues of his health and well-being and this remains an ultimate claim on the authorities to make sure that these conditions are upheld.”
